POLICE are trying to trace a vital witness to a rape in Stapleton.
Officers say the man they need to talk to intervened after a woman was attacked near Snuff Mills last Friday night.
They say the incident happened between 10.30pm and 11.20pm.
The man who intervened took the woman home. She has since been taken to hospital and is being supported by specialists.

Police have released a smartphone picture of the man who intervened and his car in the hope that he will come forward.
They are also trying to trace the man who carried out the attack, who was described as being black and driving a black Audi car.
Detective Constable Alastair Lea, of the Operation Bluestone specialist serious sexual offence investigation team, said: “This was a terrifying incident and one which we are taking incredibly seriously.
“We believe this was an isolated incident, however we’re working tirelessly to identify the person responsible and our investigation is well underway.
“The pictured man is a potential significant witness and we believe they could help our enquiries.
“If you are this man, know who he is, or have any other information which could help, then please contact us.”
