A FISHPONDS man has been charged in connection with violence at protests in the city centre last month.
Abdinasir Hussein, aged 24, was charged with violent disorder last night by detectives investigating disorder on August 3, when far-right protesters clashed with police and counter-protesters at Castle Park, Bristol Bridge and Redcliff Hill.
It happened during a week of anti-immigration riots across the UK, sparked by false information spread online that claimed the killer of three girls in Southport on July 29 was a Muslim asylum-seeker.
Hussein is due to appear at Bristol Magistrates’ Court later today.
50th arrest following disorder
Avon & Somerset police have now arrested 50 people in connection with the events in the city centre on August 3.
So far, a total of 37 people have been charged and 17 people have already been sentenced.
