Police want to trace this man over bus attack

POLICE are trying to trace this man as they investigate an attack that took place on a bus.

Officers say a man in his 50s suffered facial injuries when he was assaulted on a number 24 bus in Bridewell Street in the city centre.

The bus service passes through Eastville on its route from Ashton Gate to Southmead Hospital, and police are appealing to anyone who saw what happened or recognises the man in the CCTV image, released this week, to come forward.

The bus was parked in Bridewell Street at the time of the incident, on October 17 at around 3.15pm.

‘Punched and headbutted’

A police spokesperson said the victim was punched and headbutted, leaving him with facial injuries, including a chipped tooth, and needed treatment in hospital.

Police described the man in the image as being of mixed heritage, in his late teens or early 20s, with long dark hair that was shaved at the front and sides.

He was wearing a grey zip-up top with black trim, over a white top and dark trousers, at the time of the incident.
Anyone who recognises him should call 101 and quote the crime reference number 5224 274 201.
