AN EASTVILLE man has been jailed for breaking in to a primary school.
Connor Joe Godfrey, aged 27, was arrested after police were called to reports of someone climbing a fence into the grounds of Whitehall Primary School in Johnsons Lane, Whitehall, on Tuesday.
Police arrived to find a shed had been broken into and some of the contents stolen.
A police spokesperson said Godfrey was arrested as he climbed back over the fence.
Officers found some of the stolen items and returned them to the school.
On Thursday Godfrey appeared at Bristol Magistrates’ Court and was jailed for 16 weeks, after admitting burglary and possession of heroin and crack cocaine.
A second man arrested nearby was later released without charge.
Chief Inspector Vicks Hayward-Melen said: “This just goes to show the important part our communities can play in helping us to keep our neighbourhoods safe.
“We always want to hear about crime in progress and will respond whenever resources allow.”
