Police searching for missing Frenchay man find body in River Frome in Eastville

POLICE searching for a missing man from Frenchay have found a body in the River Frome at Eastville.

Officers looking for Luis Piovesana say a police dive team found a body while looking in the river neat Napier Road, close to the Ikea store, at around 6pm yesterday.

A spokesperson said: “While formal identification has not yet taken place, detectives have met with Luis’ family and updated them.

“Our thoughts remain with them during this incredibly difficult time and they continue to be supported by specialist officers.”

Luis, aged 26, was reported missing in the early hours of February 28 after leaving the

Jam Jar venue in St Jude’s and getting into a taxi.

He got out of the taxi soon afterwards after leaving a message for his girlfriend, apparently in distress and feeling that he was in danger.

Luis then called police to tell them he was on the M32, and another member of the public also called to report someone on the motorway.

‘Devastated’

Police were joined by family, friends and other volunteers as they searched for Luis over the weekend.

Information was shared via a Facebook page and police released CCTV footage of Luis at the Eastgate Retail Park, where his phone, wallet and bag were found.

After police announced they had found a body, a message from Luis’s sister Lubjana was shared on the Facebook page set up to help with the search, saying his family was “completely devastated”.

She said: “Luis was my little brother and loved by everyone.

“I wish he could have seen the love from everyone.

“He will be remembered by us all.”
