Fishponds teenager charged with attempted murder over McDonald’s stabbing

POLICE have arrested two people in connection with recent knife attacks in Bristol.

A 19-year-old Fishponds man, Joel Binnings, has been charged with attempted murder and possessing a knife in public in connection with the stabbing of a boy at McDonald’s in The Horsefair, Broadmead.

The 16-year-old boy injured in the incident, which happened at 8.15pm on February 8, is still in a critical condition in hospital, police said today.

Binnings was in custody today awaiting a court hearing, which is due to take place at Bristol Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

Two other men arrested in connection with the incident, aged 18 and 19, have been released on police bail; a 13-year-old boy who was arrested has been released without charge.

Boy, 16, arrested for Eastville stabbing

Police said they had also arrested a boy aged 16 on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, following an attack on a man in Eastville on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old victim was attacked at about 4.40pm near the Maytrees building, on the corner of Fishponds Road and East Park opposite the East Trees Health Centre.

He was still in hospital today, undergoing treatment to injuries which police say are not believed to be life-threatening.

The teenager is currently in police custody.
