Appeal to trace driver after hit-and-run crash leaves motorcyclist injured

POLICE are trying to trace a hit-and-run driver who fled the scene of a crash in Fishponds, leaving a motorcyclist seriously injured.

Officers say the incident happened at the junction of Fitzroy Road and Berkeley Road (pictured above), near Lodge Causeway, on August 3 between 6.30 and 6.40pm.

The rider of a Yamaha YZF-R1 motorbike, a man in his 40s, suffered a broken leg in the collision, which involved a black BMW car.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

Police say the BMW drove off towards Lodge Causeway.

The driver is described as male, black and between 5ft 10in and 6ft 2in tall.

A police spokesperson said: “We have carried out CCTV and house-to-house enquiries, have spoken to witnesses, and we are now appealing to the wider public to come forward while the investigation continues.”
