POLICE are trying to trace four armed burglars who stole gold and cash from a safe in Stapleton.
They released a CCTV picture (above) of the gang today as they appealed to the public to help identify them.
The incident happened on August 20 at around midnight in Park Road.
The four men broke in, threatened a mother and son living at the house with a knife then ransacked the house before leaving.
Police say they have released the image at this stage after carrying out house-to-house enquiries, forensic investigations and studied CCTV from the area.
The first man they want to identify is described as white, bald and around 6ft tall, with a Bristolian accent. He was wearing a face mask during the burglary.
The second is also white and bald. He was wearing black trousers, a shirt and face mask at the time.
The third is of heavy, muscular build and wearing a white and grey hooded top.
The fourth also had a Bristolian accent, was wearing a face mask and was seen holding a knife and a white bag.
‘Deeply distressing’
Police say the victims were not injured but have been offered “access to specialist support and safeguarding services”.
Detective Sergeant Jeremy Cowburn said: “This incident has been deeply distressing for the victims, and it will no doubt come as a concern for members of the community, but we are dedicated to bringing those responsible to justice.
“This incident is being thoroughly investigated, and we have now reached the stage where we are appealing to anybody with information on those responsible, or the whereabouts of the items stolen, to come forward.
“We understand the impact burglaries can have on victims, not only in terms of sentimental and financial loss, but also the psychological harm they can cause.
“We would now like to speak to the four people pictured who we believe hold information which could assist our enquiries.”
Anyone who thinks they know who the four people in the picture are, or has information about the burglary or stolen property, should call 101 or go online, quoting the crime reference number 5225 234 971.
